Abstract

This paper examines the legacy of the Serbian art historian and painter Pavle Vasić (1907–1993) as the author of texts published in the journal Umetnički pregled [The Art Review] (1937–1941), and provides a brief analysis of Vasic’s exhibition reviews and essays. A significant number of Vasic’s earliest art history texts was published in the journal in the period between 1938 and 1940. This paper demonstrates that many of Vasic’s ideas and interests expressed in these texts formed the base of muych of his later art history work.
