Abstract

The poem “Horoscope“ by Rasa Livada, which is an integral and final part of the collection named Atlantis, is interpreted here as an independent poetic work and the precursor to his later collection of poems titled Quarantine.  The aim of this paper is to outline its significance within Livada’s poetic oeuvre, considering the meaning and significance it gained as part of the Atlantis collection, as well as an independent whole, and as an anticipation of the ideological horizon of Quarantine, Livada’s testamentary book. In the domain of the poetics of the fragment, this poem, as a participant in the larger wholes to which it belongs, becomes a significant point of intersection of Livada’s poetic choices and ideological perspectives. Trying to reach its interpretive fullness within the genre of the poem, the special use of language and blank verse will also be considered in comparison with Miloš Crnjanski’s  poem “Lament over Belgrade“.
