International Scholarship on the Works of Milorad Pavić as a Foundation for Theoretical-Interpretative Definitions to Non-Linear Literature

Following Pavić’s belief in the uniqueness of the conception of a literary work, the paper presents selected insights from the texts of world researchers on non-linear literature, who also gathered their observations through examples from Pavić’s literary works. Through the discussions, the paper offers a potential example of possible items of the imagined lexicon of non-linear literature, which indicates both certain aspects of the foreign theoretical reception of Pavić’s texts, as well as the deepened contextualization of Pavić’s works within the framework of newer theoretical examinations of world literature of the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. The paper concludes that many foreign authors founded and/or confirmed certain concepts of non-linear literature, bearing in mind the diversity of Pavić’s oeuvre. It means that, even within the assumed lexicon of non-linear literature, the literary achievements of Milorad Pavić stand out as an inevitable paradigm for the research of various forerunners and examples of Serbian and world digital literature. The previous analysis of selected examples of foreign studies on Milorad Pavić’s texts once again confirmed the exceptional innovativeness and the relevance of Pavić’s oeuvre, which will likely remain a source of intrigue for many decades to come, attracting numerous interdisciplinary, intermedial, and comparative studies by both Serbian and foreign literary scholars.
