Abstract

У протеклих неколико година НФЛ плејбукс (playbooks) постају све комплексније и садрже све већи број комбинација и кретања: рецимо, чувени The Greatest Show on Turf плејбук шампионских Ремса (St. Louis Rams) чинило је више од 3.000 комбинација. Сваки члан тима мора да научи плејбук, а квотербек (quarterback) је онај који у хадлу (huddle) позива одређену комбинацију и, према томе, мора да држи читав плејбук у глави. Сваки плејбук написан је сопственим језиком који може бити заснован на Вест-коуст нападу (West-Coast offense), Кориел систему (Coryell System) или Ерхард-Перкинс систему (Erkhardt-Perkins System). Како изгледа језик плејбука? Пре снепа (snap), квотербек може позвати одређену акцију на следећи начин: ”Scatter-2 Bunch Right-Zip-Fire 2 Texas Right-F-Fiat X-Q!” Бити члан одређеног тима значи научити и говорити језиком тог тима. Важна предност претходно цитиране реченице јесте њена прецизност: она садржи јасне инструкције за оне који је разумеју. Њена мана је време које је потребно да се она изговори.
